MMSP-CP103 First TBM Launching Ceremony
The Metro Manila Subway Project (Phase 1) Contract Package 103 (MMSP-CP103) has officially launched its first Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) last January 16, 2025, at Camp Aguinaldo Station in Quezon City.
The launching ceremony was attended by Mr. Jeremy Regino, Undersecretary for Railways of the Department of Transportation, Gen. Romeo Brawner, Jr., Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), BGen. Armand Arevalo, AFP Commander, Mr. Daisuke Nihei, Minister of Economic Affairs of the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines, and Mr. Takayuki Sakamoto, Director of JICA Philippines. Together with SMCC’s General Manager and Project Director, Mr. Hitoshi Yamaji, they all pushed the start button at the same time to officially start the Tunnel Boring Machine. This TBM will connect the Tunnels between Camp Aguinaldo Station and Ortigas Avenue Station.
MMSP-CP103’s Overview: Civil engineering and construction with a tunnel construction of about 6.5 km. Complete equipment construction. Including construction of two station buildings (Anonas Station 253m, Camp Aguinaldo Station 277m), the total length of the up and down shield tunnel sections connecting the four station buildings is 11.97km, and the inner diameter is 6.1m.
