SMCC was awarded the “Gawad Mapagkawanggawa” Plaque by Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC)

On October 22, 2024, the Philippine Children’s Medical Center – Blood Center held its 23rd Recognition and Awarding Ceremony, celebrating exceptional achievements in community service, particularly in blood donation initiatives. The event brought together healthcare professionals, staff, donors, community partners, and corporate sponsors to honor the dedication and compassion of the institution and its supporters.

The ceremony aimed to recognize individuals and organizations that have consistently supported PCMC’s blood donation program. Among the honorees, SMCC – represented by Mr. Shinichiro Sashida (Administration Manager) and Ms. Charlene Baguyo (Assistant HR Manager) and was awarded the “Gawad Mapagkawanggawa” plaque, for successfully conducting nine blood donation events, mobilizing 529 generous donors. This vital contribution bolstered PCMC’s commitment to ensuring that safe and life-saving blood supplies are readily available for pediatric patients.

The welcome address from PCMC’s Director expressed heartfelt gratitude to all donors and staff involved in the blood donation programs, emphasizing the crucial role these initiatives play in saving lives and enhancing health outcomes for children receiving treatment.

The highlight of the ceremony was the formal presentation of various awards. PCMC directors acknowledged individual donors who had contributed between 9 and 65 times, presenting them with Pearl, Ruby, or Platelet Apheresis Galloners awards. Partner agencies and companies received awards such as “Gawad Mapagbigay”, “Gawad Mapagkawanggawa”, and “Gawad Pagtutulungan”.

Additionally, the event showcased a display of photographs and videos highlighting the year’s blood donation programs. A series of moving speeches featured testimonials from blood recipients, who shared their experiences of how PCMC’s support transformed their lives. Their heartfelt stories highlighted the profound impact of blood donations, not just on individual patients but on the broader community, fostering a culture of generosity and compassion.

The ceremony concluded with a call to action, encouraging more individuals and organizations to participate in future blood donation drives. The message reinforced the idea that through collaboration and commitment, the community can significantly improve the lives of children and other patients in need of medical care.
