SMCC’s Blood Donation Drive

SMCC’s Blood Donation Drive

In partnership with Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC), the blood donation drive was held last April 08, 2022 at the NSCR Project’s Calumpit Site Yard, Brgy. Iba-Este, Calumpit, Bulacan. A total of twelve staffs from PCMC including two (2) doctors, seven (7) licensed medical professionals, and three (3) ambulance drivers have assisted in the blood-letting event. Three ambulances were on standby to timely transport donated blood bags to the hospital for further testing and emergency purposes.

Initially, the PCMC staffs were required to take the antigen test at the site clinic as a requirement of the site office for all its visitors. After testing negative, the set-up has begun in the canteen area of the site which consists of fourteen beds arranged in consideration of the minimum health and safety protocols.

The event flow was organized in four steps which the participants followed accordingly.

First, the application forms and numbers were given to the employees who want to participate.

Second, they have to be assessed by the doctors on station to check if they are eligible as donors.

After passing the initial evaluation, they can proceed to the third step for hemoglobin count checking. Medical
professionals are checking each person’s hemoglobin count to ensure they can donate blood.

The final step is the blood donation proper. They will be assisted by licensed medical professionals for blood collection.
Each person is required to donate one bag of blood (450 ml), which will benefit up to three (3) children with cancer.

After the donation proper, PCMC handed over free snacks, refreshments and some souvenirs for every successful
donor. Each donor was given ample time to rest after the process.

This activity was held as part of the company’s corporate social responsibilities. A total of 103 successful donors have been a part of this event coming from the different departments of the project including employees from Manila Branch as well.
